There is hope in Jesus!

This is a statement we have made since Day 1 because it is more than a pithy motto or a catchphrase that looks good on a T-shirt — it is a profound and unchanging truth. Everything we are and do as a church revolves around knowing Jesus, promoting Jesus, and celebrating Jesus, so it’s natural that our mission is ‘knowing Jesus and making Him known.’ This is lived out through our core values of Encountering God, Empowering People, and Engaging the World.

Our mission is knowing Jesus and making Him known.

Lead Pastor Josiah Smith felt the call in the spring of 2013 to “plant” a thriving church in the Moxham neighborhood of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. With the partnership of the CityReach Network based in Pittsburgh and under the umbrella of the Church of God, CityReach Johnstown officially launched on September 20, 2014, and we have seen favor, growth, and the grace of God ever since.

Matthew 4:23 says, “Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people” (NIV). Jesus’ primary message of the Kingdom of God (Matthew 4:17, Matthew 9:35, Luke 8:1) has become our primary message as well, and so we are positioned to see His Kingdom established here on earth as it is in Heaven. Jesus’ Kingdom is one of abundant life, unconditional love, peace that endures, and a realm where sickness and a lack of provision are simply unacceptable. By aligning ourselves with this Kingdom, we continually see testimony after testimony from everyday people who are being set free from addiction, healed from physical & emotional affliction, brought to financial stability, blessed with healthy marriages & relationships, positioned to live out their royal Kingdom identity, and — most importantly — restored to right relationship with our Father through Jesus.

How exciting to see Jesus’ Kingdom being established here in Johnstown! We invite you to be part of the movement, and to experience the life-changing love and hope in Jesus! See you at church this week!
